North West Acting MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs Paul Sebegoe has joined other leaders across the North West province in conveying messages of condolences to the family of Councillor Lesley Sebata Lekukane. Lekukane who was a ward councilor of Ward 14 in Ratlou Local Municipality met his untimely death on the 09th of June 2013 after suffering ill health for some time.
Councillor Lekukane was born in Setlagole village in 1962/06/12. As a vocal and active person he participated in community activities and in community organizations such as local tribal council and community based organizations in Setlagole. In 2006 – 2009 he served as a ward committee member of ward 5 and worked closely with the previous councillor. At the time of his death he was serving as an executive member of SANCO in both Ngaka Modiri Molema Region and the provincial structure.
“My heartfelt condolences to the family of Cllr Lekukane, his friends and colleagues. Lekukane has made a meaningful contribution as a councillor in local government sphere and in particular Ratlou Municipality, in dealing with developmental challenges facing his local communities. We are saddened by his death and we hope that those who are left behind will represent him well by carrying his vision forward, of ensuring better life and living conditions to the residents of Ratlou Municipality” said MEC Sebegoe. Lekukane will laid to rest tomorrow (15 June 2013) at Lokaleng Village in Setlagole.
