Department to host the Provincial Municipal Public Account Committee Forum meeting

In ensuring the promotion of good governance, transparency and accountability on the use of municipal resources, the North West Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs today and tomorrow host a two days Provincial Municipal Public Accounts Committee Forum meeting at the Embassy Hall in Mahikeng

The purpose of this forum is to facilitate the ongoing support and capacitating municipal public accounts committees in the province.

The Provincial Municipal Public Accounts Committee Forum was established last year and it is composed of various sector departments and the chairpersons of district and local Municipal Public Accounts Committees.

Their main focus is to exercise oversight over the executive obligations of councils, assist councils to hold the executive and municipal entities to account, and to ensure the efficient and effective use of municipal resource.
